Dr. Ian Murphy “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” MATTHEW 18:20 SAINT ANNE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH PRESENTS Dr. Ian Murphy has had a stirring journey into Christianity out of agnosticism. His subsequent ministry to reach other skeptics with the Gospel unexpectedly rocketed to public attention when his valedictorian speech A Journey into the Mystery of the Eucharist about Jesus made headlines nationwide, inspiring a Congressional Law from the desk of Senator Arlen Specter. This momentum landed Ian into the position of head pastor at a Baptist church in Texas, where his ministry remained centered until his decision to enter the Catholic Church. Ian completed his Ph.D. in Theology at Duquesne University with a dissertation on the New Evangelization. As a professor, he has taught at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Penn State, Rosemont College, Duquesne, and Divine Mercy University.
Aside from teaching, Ian’s ministry has continued through regular appearances on the Familyland Television Network, as well as three seasons hosting his own radio broadcast on 105.1 FM out of Indiana, Pennsylvania. He has also been featured on the EWTN’s Journey Home program, Sirius XM Satellite Radio’s The Catholic Channel, and Franciscan University Presents. In 2020, Ian’s conversion story was published as a book by Ignatius Press with an introduction by Dr. Scott Hahn, who also designated Ian a Senior Fellow of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. Ian resides in Charleston, South Carolina with his wife Rachel.
The Reality of the Resurrection: Eucharist as an Encounter with the Risen Jesus This parish mission is a journey into the mystery of the Eucharist. To help us make the leap from dogma to encounter, Wednesday’s opening session is a faith-boosting focus on the historical fact of Christ’s resurrection. After all, the more that the resurrection becomes real to us at a personal level, the more meaningful the Eucharist becomes. Beyond belief, we’ll discover a true relational encounter with the living God. Presented on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 |
